The driver of a Toyota Avalon crashed into several parked cars just after 2 a.m. morning. Police believe the driver was speeding and drunk when he lost control and hit the parked cars. His 40-year-old passenger was trapped inside. Firefighters ripped off the roof and took him out, but he died at the scene.

An owner of one of the cars damaged in the accident was shocked to see the wreckage.

"I can't believe that one small car could do all this damage," said car owner Adiam Daniel.

"That's pretty surprising. I was hoping nobody really got hurt. That's really sad," said neighbor Diana Franco.

Investigators found beer cans inside the Avalon. Police say the driver was taken to the hospital with relatively minor injuries. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

The coroner's office expects to release the identity of the 40-year-old victim later today.
