4 rescued from submerged car in Oakland Estuary

OAKLAND, Calif.

Two men were coming back from a Father's Day lunch when they spotted the car in the water and people inside pounding on the glass. One of the men grabbed a knife from a woman who had also stopped.

"I hit the back window with the point, shattered the glass, and by that time water was just flooding in. We start pulling kids out and parents out, and they couldn't swim so we had to help them ashore. And Andy was waiting on the shore to receive them, and so we pulled them all out of the water, and it was a good Father's Day," said Good Samaritan Erik Schorken.

There were also two children in the car. All four were taken to the hospital to be checked out. Investigators are looking into on how the vehicle ended up in the water.
