Foster City to unveil new veterans monument on July 4th

FOSTER CITY, Calif.

The creation of the Foster City Veterans Wall will be celebrated with a ribbon-cutting in Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park at 2 p.m. Thursday, Foster City Parks and Recreation Director Kevin Miller said.

The 50-foot-long cement structure has already been constructed, and the first set of nameplates is being installed, Miller said. The names of roughly 50 veterans who have served since World War II have so far been selected for inclusion on the wall, and the city is still accepting applications for more names to be placed on the monument, Miller said.

The completed project will be dedicated on Nov. 16, he said.

Anyone who wants to submit the name of a veteran who lived or worked in Foster City can email the parks director at kmillerfostercity.org.

Donations to help fund the Veterans Wall can be made through the Parks and Recreation Department by calling (650) 286-3388.
