Unruly patron bounced from nightclub shoots employee

An unruly patron shot an employee of the Epic nightclub after he was escorted out of the downtown Santa Rosa bar early Wednesday morning, police said.

The shooter was annoying other customers and using profanity and derogatory language inside the club, located at 404 Mendocino Ave., Sgt. David Linscomb said.

A 23-year-old male employee of the bar asked the man to leave and accompanied him outside at about 1:15 a.m. On the sidewalk in front of the nightclub, the man pulled out a gun, shot the employee in the torso and fled, Linscomb said.

The victim, a Santa Rosa resident, taken to a hospital for surgery, Linscomb said.

The suspect is described only as a Hispanic man in his 20s with long hair.
