Study suggests dogs mimic human yawns

TOKYO

A new study from the University of Tokyo finds that dogs yawn when they see people yawning, especially when it's their owners doing it.

Researchers say the dogs were able to tell the difference between people who were just opening their mouths, and those that were actually yawning.

The study suggests that canines can empathize with people who are tired, especially the people they are around the most.
