An unattended fire at a homeless camp appears to have caused a Saturday night grass fire that burned in Contra Costa County near El Sobrante, the fire department said.

Firefighters responded to reports of a brushfire on a hillside behind a Walgreens Pharmacy at 3630 San Pablo Dam Road at about 10:15 p.m., according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

Units battled 10 to 15 mph winds to bring the blaze under control in about two hours, according to the district.

No one was injured and no structures were damaged.

The blaze burned approximately one acre and appeared to have ignited in nearby a homeless encampment, the district said.
