Thousands expected at SF's annual chocolate festival

SAN FRANCISCO

Thousands of people are expected to pour into the popular tourist destination for the 18th annual Chocolate Festival.

Almost 30 vendors will be giving out samples of their chocolate inspired creations.

There will also be chef demonstrations. And new this year, there will be wine and chocolate pairings.

"We have six vendors who will be sampling chocolate," said Kym Hough with Ghirardelli Chocolate. "And then we have 12 vendors doing wine. And they'll be lots of pairing of intense dark chocolates, and of course Ghirardelli will be there, and some pinots and some chardonnays."

The Chocolate Festival begins at noon on Saturday and Sunday at Ghirardelli Square.

Proceeds go to Project Open Hand.
