The driver of a second vehicle involved in a fatal crash that killed an Antioch teen Friday has come forward and is cooperating with investigators, police said today.

While the two vehicles involved in the Hillcrest Avenue crash do not appear to have collided, they were both traveling at a high speed prior to the accident, according to Corporal Rick Smith.

The crash occurred around 7:10 p.m. near Sterling Hill Drive, when a vehicle struck a tree, ejecting both the driver and passenger.

A 17-year-old Antioch boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 19-year-old Antioch man was taken to the hospital in critical condition with major injuries.

The 19-year-old's condition has since been upgraded to serious, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle was identified only as an 18-year-old Antioch male.
