San Francisco pay hikes are highest in nation

SAN FRANCISCO

A new survey shows San Francisco Bay Area workers earned the biggest pay increases in the nation over the past year.

Wages jumped an average of 3.7 percent in the Bay Area. Nationwide it's only 1.7 percent. And it's not just because of our booming tech industry. The survey says earnings are up also in media, publishing, science and biotechnology.

Here are the other cities on the top five list: just below San Francisco, the number two city is Baltimore, with an average wage increase of 3 percent. Seattle is third with an average wage hike of 2.7 percent. Next is Atlanta at 2.5 percent and Dallas, also at 2.5 percent.
