Bay Area man loses wheelchair in SoCal accident

SAN LORENZO, Calif.

Arthur Renowitzky was paralyzed when shot by a gunman during a robbery attempt in 2007. While recovering, he began rapping about overcoming adversity. AR, as he's known, now teaches kids about the dangers of gun violence. He plays semi-pro wheelchair basketball and founded the Life Goes On Foundation.

While in Southern California recently, his wheelchair was crushed by a charter bus as it was being unloaded from a car.

"Those are my legs so it really hit me at that time - what am I going to do now? I can't go to my speeches at juvenile halls or community events," said Renowitzky.

Renowitzky can't get a new wheelchair because the driver gave him a fake name and bad insurance information. There is now a movement underway to help him get a new one.
