Names for Zoo Atlanta's twin panda cubs revealed on GMA

ATLANTA

Good Morning America teamed up with Zoo Atlanta and put the names to viewers for their votes.

GMA viewers chose Mei Lun and Mei Huan. They come from the ancient Chinese idiom "Mei Lun Mei Huan," which was used to describe constructed buildings that are tall and magnificent. It has come to mean something indescribably beautiful and magnificent.

The duo is certainly living up to their names -- they are the first surviving pair of giant panda twins ever born in the U.S.

The cubs were born last July. Following Chinese tradition, they were not named for 100 days.

The pandas are expected to make their debut in an exhibit later this fall.
