A former NFL player now calls himself a feminist in the fight to stop domestic violence.

Don McPherson is the keynote speaker at a fundraiser for Stand for Families Free of Violence, a domestic violence prevention group in Contra Costa County.

"That langue gage that we hear every single day, that we hear in so many ways, of challenging each other as men really is demeaning who we are as men, but also demeaning women in the process," McPherson said.

ABC7 News anchor Cheryl Jennings was the emcee for Thursday's luncheon at the Concord Hilton.
