"So, there's natural progression of building heights that takes your eye down to the water," said Architect Craig Dykers.
Team owners are calling the latest Warriors arena plan, version 3.0. The design show a sports and entertainment facility along piers 30-32 that has less bulk and more open space than originally planned.
"They do take into account what the community is saying and, most importantly, what regulators and bay conservationists are saying," said Warriors spokesperson PJ Johnston.
Among the tweaks, the arena has gone from 771,000 square feet to 695,000. And the total open space has increased from 50 percent of the site to 60 percent.
But the San Francisco Waterfront Alliance calls the changes window dressing.
"It doesn't matter how many feet they shave off the design. Or if they, you know, include a tiny bit more open space. It's really all about the location," said Buffy Martin Tarbox with the San Francisco Waterfront Alliance.
Mayor Ed Lee has described this as his legacy project and hopes the new iteration will be enough to get people on board.
"Now version three is more welcoming and exciting. Increases the open space," said Lee.
The new version of the arena makes no changes to the rest of the Warriors' billion dollar project, which includes a 175-foot condominium complex. Plus, two 105-foot hotel towers and more than 100,000 square feet of retail space.
Jan Duffy, who lives and owns a SOMA business, says this is a case of bad urban planning.
"When you already have gridlock and you don't have a transit infrastructure that can support it, this is going to be, it really is going to be a citywide nightmare," she said.
Both the Warriors and critics are weighing the possibility of going to the voters.
