The winning Mega Millions lottery numbers are: 8, 14, 17, 20, 39 and Mega Ball 7.
It's a celebration at Jenny's Gifts and Kids Wear in east San Jose. A big payout has already taken place and the person with the winning ticket hasn't even come forward yet.
"We are so happy to be presenting our retailer from Jenny's Gift, Thuy Nguyen, with a $1 million commission check," California Lottery official Mona Sanders said.
Nguyen couldn't have looked happier Wednesday morning. He just bought Jenny's Gifts and Kids Wear off Tully Road in east San Jose four months ago. The timing couldn't have been better. He sold one of two winning Mega Millions tickets on December 15 and found out last night he was getting his own prize.
He came to this country 20 years ago from Vietnam. The entire Vietnamese community in San Jose is celebrating.
"Today is a good day. I'm so excited. I won a $1,000, $1 million too," Nguyen said.
Lottery officials showed up Wednesday morning and covered Nguyen's store with signs proclaiming "Millionaires Made Here."
Some in the Vietnamese community took pictures of the lucky store and others went inside to buy more tickets.
Many kept a watchful eye waiting for the winner to show up.
"Because all of the excitement, I want to see who the winner is. Hopefully it's someone in my family," San Jose resident Tony Nguyen said.
The person who bought the winning ticket has not come forward yet. He or she is splitting the prize with another winner in Georgia. A lottery investigator was inside Jenny's Gifts trying to track down the big winner.
"We know when the ticket was purchased the date and time. We're trying to get video to see who bought the ticket at that right time and we go from there," California Lottery investigator Dennis Maffei said.
Nguyen's small store was filled with media and other people looking to congratulate him. Many people are hoping his luck continues with another jackpot just a ticket away.
"That's why I had to shake his hand because you know what -- good karma, good energy. And that's why I think he won," San Jose resident Leticia Murphy said. "I'm so happy for him -- so happy. I feel lucky though," customer Ann Elizaga said.
Even though it's crazy money, it's not the highest jackpot in US history.
"The highest was $353 million that we had last year, so it's still the second highest, but it's not too shabby is it," Lottery spokesperson Russ Lopez said.
Thuy has three kids and a very happy wife. He said she was proud of him and hugged him all night long.
