Rescued paralyzed dog comforts siblings with autism

The pup named Willie was found by an employee at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay in a box near a trash bin. His tail and hind quarters from the waist down were paralyzed.

Willie was adopted by a family that has two children with autism. The siblings quickly took a liking to the pup, who now spends his days scooting around in a special wheelchair and comforting the two kids.

Sherry Silk, the executive director of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, tells ABC News that it's not common that a dog found in a trash bin makes it into a loving home so quickly.

"It's a great holiday story that he's now in a home with other dogs and is now going to be loved for the rest of his life," she said.
