An ambulance was stolen after it was used to respond to an emergency overnight in Daly City.

Paramedics were inside a home around 12:20 a.m. tending to a patient at a home on the 500 block of Schwerin Street when someone jumped into the ambulance and took off. The vehicle was recovered within five minutes a couple blocks away with small items missing. Police will not say what was taken.

Whoever stole the ambulance is still at large.

Police said the 911 call to bring medics to the home was legitimate and there is no word on what happened to the patient.

The ambulance is an American Medical Response vehicle doing business for San Mateo County.
