Monday night there was a high speed chase in San Francisco that led to at least one crash and police opening fire. The chase ended at Waller and Stanyan streets. The area was closed Monday night for a few hours.

It looks like a cement block ended the chase between police and the driver of a black Dodge Challenger. A red vehicle involved in the chase was an unmarked police car.

It all started in the Bayview when police suspected the driver had a weapon. The driver took off leading police through the Taraval District where police say the driver tried to ram a patrol car.

They also say he struck a civilian vehicle and injured an officer who was on foot.

One officer fired a shot into the car but did not hit the suspect.

The chase finally ended in the Haight near Golden Gate Park. No weapon was found.

Police say there are a lot of separate crime scenes along the way so it will take a while to wrap up the investigation.
