Police dashcam shows officer and boy playing game of catch

Rosenberg Police Sergeant Ariel Soltura was on patrol, driving through an apartment complex parking lot when he saw a young man standing by himself.

"I got out, and I think the universal sign that everybody knows for throw me the football, I held my hands up in a triangle form," Soltura told ABC News.

And play they did, on a perfect Saturday afternoon.

The video impressed Soltura's bosses so they posted it on the department's Facebook page, where it went viral. People were drawn to the connection between a cop and a kid who never even knew each other's names.

The boy, 10-year-old Jermaine Ford, says he wants to be a football player or a police officer when he grows up.
