Ceremony to mark end of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. construction

MARIN, Calif.

Work on a five-plus mile stretch of Sir Francis Drake has been going on for a year and a half.

Construction crews have repaired pavement between Shafter Bridge and Samuel Taylor State Park, cleared storm drains, and fixed a retaining wall.

The project was divided into three phases to help deal with environmental concerns along the roadway, which carries tourists from Marin County to the coast.
