An East Bay family is on a mission to convince the Oakland Athletics to let them throw out the first pitch on the first game of the season against the Cleveland Indians.

Marcos Garcia and his family are gathering support for the idea on Instagram and Facebook. Their First Pitch for Diego page is to honor Diego Garcia, who was killed by a drunk driver while jogging in Pinole this February.

Diego's brother Marcos wants to throw out the first pitch in his brother's honor.

Diego was such an A's fan, his family buried him wearing the team's jersey.

The Oakland A's organization says it is aware of the campaign and is discussing how the team can honor Diego.
