An owl that spent five days in a chimney is free.

Officials with WildCare say the Western Screech Owl got trapped in the chimney of a home in Kentfield, in Marin County.

On the advice of experts, the residents lured it out by placing a dish of crickets at the base of the chimney.

The owl was exhausted and dehydrated, but has now been nursed back to health.

It was scheduled to be released into the wild Friday night.
