One dead, one injured in shooting at Oakland house party

OAKLAND, Calif.

Officers say a 24-year-old man died and his 26-year-old friend was wounded during a shooting just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Our media partner The Oakland Tribune reports the man who died got into an argument with another man he knew at a house party in the 2400 block of 14th Avenue, a few blocks from Highland Hospital. They say it escalated into a physical fight and then gunfire.

The search for that gunman continues.

This is Oakland's 18th homicide of the year. There were 13 homicides in the city this time last year.
