New legislation to help protect electric utilities from attacks

California Senator Jerry Hill plans to introduce new legislation Sunday requiring electric utilities to develop security plans to prevent attacks.

This comes nearly one year after a coordinated sniper attack on a PG&E substation near San Jose caused $15.4 million in damage.

The suspects knocked out 17 giant transformers and fired on the station.

Authorities aren't sure if those behind the attack were vandals or terrorists.

Police have not made any arrests in this case.
