The first case of a woman contracting HIV from another woman during sex has been confirmed.

The Centers for Disease Control reports the two Texas women were in a monogamous relationship for six months.

One woman was HIV positive, the other was not.

They admit they had unprotected sex frequently.

The CDC says HIV transmission from one woman to another is rare.

Usually cases are traced to intravenous drug use or heterosexual sex.
