This probe will look at concerns from a Caltrans engineer who was stationed at steel plant in China.
That engineer told State Senators in January that his bosses ignored warnings about potential flaws in the steel in order to finish the bridge on time. Caltrans later transferred that engineer after he expressed his worries.
The Sacramento Bee reports this is not a criminal investigation.
