A flashing crossing guard is at the Caltrain stop in Redwood City and there's also a sign warning of a potential fine if you go around it when it's flashing. But when people are in a hurry sometimes these warnings don't mean much.
The video was taken at the Caltrain station in Redwood City back on February 18 at about 8:40 in the morning. Caltrain says a group of people tried to make it across the tracks against a flashing crossing gate in the down position with an express train quickly approaching.
The trains can reach a top speed of 79 miles-per-hour and can cover the length of a football field in less than three seconds. Caltrain also warns people to watch for a second train since two to four tracks are utilized.
Thirteen people were hit and killed by Caltrain last year.
