Young students in San Jose honor legacy of Cesar Chavez

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Students from the Alum Rock School District marched with their families to the Mexican Heritage Plaza where they celebrated the life of the co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union.

The students say it's important to honor the man who helped so many.

"This march means a lot, too," said Renaissance Academy student tElijah Wiggins. "The person that actually did something for people and the farms, that boycotted for the people."

This marks the 21st consecutive year the district has held the march.

Monday is Cesar Chavez Day in California. It is a state holiday and also the same day he was born back in 1927.
