Free healthcare insurance enrollment fairs to be held in East Bay

Healthcare workers are holding free insurance enrollment fairs in Oakland and Richmond on Monday, the official deadline to sign up for medical coverage through Medi-Cal or Covered California.

Members of the SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West, the union that is hosting the enrollment events, will be available in person to answer questions for anyone who needs help signing up for health insurance through the state exchange or has questions about the Affordable Care Act.

Residents who want to sign up should bring photo identification, proof of address, recent paystubs or tax filings from the last two years, and proof of U.S. citizenship.

The enrollment fair in Oakland will be held between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center, located at 388 Ninth St.

The fair in Richmond will be held between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Bay Area Rescue Mission, located at 123 West MacDonald Ave.

Sunnyvale: Our Daily Bread, 231 Sunset Avenue (8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)

Berkeley: Berkeley City College, 2050 Center Street (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.)

Dublin: Dublin Library, 200 Civic Plaza (1 p.m. - 4 p.m.)

San Francisco: 3175 17th Street (11 a.m. - noon)
