Salesforce to anchor West Coast's tallest building in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO

Company and city officials announced the roughly $560 million, 15-year lease deal Friday.

The business software maker will occupy 714,000 square feet in the new Transbay Tower. The 61-story skyscraper will sit atop a new transit hub. It will be renamed the Salesforce Tower.

The tower is scheduled to be completed in 2017.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff says the deal represents an incredible milestone in the company's history. It plans to hire more than 1,000 new employees this year.

Salesforce currently leases more than 1 million square feet in the city.
