Around 5:55 p.m., John Norman, 33, was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed westbound on the road when he lost control of his 2005 Nissan 350Z and crashed into a tree, according to the CHP.
John Norman's wife and passenger in the car, Deandra Norman, 33, of Santa Rosa, was pronounced dead at the scene. John Norman was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
According to the CHP, alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash and said John Norman will be arrested on DUI charges once he is released from the hospital.
