SACRAMENTO (KGO) -- Lawmakers are considering two bills that would impose new insurance rules for rideshare services.

This morning, dozens of Uber and Lyft drivers held a rally at the state capitol to urge lawmakers to reject the bills.

Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla of Concord wants to require $1 million in insurance coverage anytime Lyft drivers have their app open to see who is looking for a ride. The other bill would require such companies to carry the same coverage 24/7 as regular taxis.
