New details have emerged in Volkswagen's attempt to fool emissions tests on millions of its diesel cars and trucks.

Volkswagen now admits it is investigating whether some of its other cars carried similar software, which allowed the cars to produce 40 times more pollution than is allowable, but pass the tests anyway.

An estimated 11 million cars were originally thought to carry the software.

The new admissions may mean millions more.
