SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- McDonald's Dollar Menu is back next month

McDonald's is bringing back its Dollar Menu after a two-year absence. The fast food giant will relaunch the menu next month.

The company says items like its $1 sodas and the McPick 2 for $5 Deal promotions brought more people into restaurants in the third quarter and boosted sales.

The restaurant chain dumped the original Dollar Menu because franchises complained profits were being cut by higher ingredient costs.

The new Dollar Menu isn't exactly as advertised, though. In addition to $1 items, it will have items costing $2 and $3.

Order Starbucks from an app in your car

A new app in General Motors vehicles now allows drivers to order from restaurants, reserve a table, and even book a night at a hotel - all from your car's touchscreen.

The option is called Marketplace, and GM says it "allows customers to order food, find the closest gas station to save on fuel, and make dinner reservations on the go." Drivers can also buy Wi-Fi data and look up GM discounts.

Several brands have already jumped onboard with the new option. Drivers can order ahead from Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, and IHOP, book a table at TGI Fridays or Applebee's, even find a hotel on Priceline.com.

Marketplace is available on 2017 and 2018 GM vehicles with infotainment systems. No separate data plan is required.

Uber releases list of "most Uber-ed to" destinations for every state

Ridesharing service Uber is wrapping up 2017 with a new list of most popular destinations for every state. A location in San Francisco claimed the top spot for California, but it's not the Golden Gate Bridge.

Instead, the most popular Uber destination in California is AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.

Uber also said the prime time for ride requests was 11 p.m. on Saturday. The most popular date so far for 2017 is Saturday, Oct. 28, the weekend just before Halloween.
