Airbnb took the top spot in its very first year on the list. Other companies making the Top 50 for the first time include Expedia, Delta Air Lines and Red Bull. Google, last year's #1 employer, ranks #8 this year and is among only four employers that have made this list for eight consecutive years, including Bain & Company, Apple and Chevron.

On the 2016 list of the 50 Best Small & Medium Companies to Work For, the top 5 employers are all newcomers to this list.

Glassdoor is a jobs website where employees rate their employers and write reviews of the company, similar to Yelp, for careers. Glassdoor reviews are anonymous.
