NEWARK, Calif. (KGO) -- Amazon looks to be opening its first warehouse in the Bay Area.

The Silicon Valley Business Journal is reporting that Amazon has leased a giant warehouse building in Newark at Cherry Street and Robertson Avenue.

It hasn't been officially announced, but the e-commerce giant is advertising to hire "fulfillment associates" for Newark.

Newark's mayor says this will mean a couple hundred local jobs.

Amazon already has a research and development lab in Sunnyvale.
