SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Longtime alternative newspaper the Bay Guardian is shutting its doors. The free weekly known for its progressive stance on politics has been in business for 48 years.
The San Francisco Media Company, which bought The Bay Guardian two years ago, said it has to close the paper for financial reasons.
There is no word on how many people will lose their jobs, but the Bay Guardian's editor said everyone is still trying to absorb the news.
The newspaper will publish a final edition on Wednesday.
