The CHP is looking to recruit 600 cadets around California. The CHP recently changed its hiring process. It used to test three times a year and now, it tests continuously in open enrollment.

A captain working with this class of recruits in Sacramento says the change came because they didn't want to miss out on top applicants who were ready to jump into a career, but might have sought out another agency when testing wasn't readily available.

The CHP has positions open for road patrol officers, as well as officers on the canine and air operations units.
