QUANTICO, Va. (KGO) -- Three women are on the edge of making Marine Corps history. For the first time, three female Marine officers have passed the grueling combat endurance test.

The test kicks off a 13-week course for officers to lead infantry platoons.

24 women have tried to take the course, but none have passed.

The three women, who are not being named, now have a real shot at making history if they go on to pass the course as its first female graduates.
