Child shot in East Oakland, girl driven to hospital

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Oakland police are responding to reports that a child was injured in a shooting in East Oakland.

It happened while the girl was in a car with her mother near the 6500 block of Simson Street at 8:50 p.m.

The little girl's family drove her to Children's Hospital where she is being treated for a wound to the arm.

The car they were in is covered with bullet holes. No arrests have been made.
