Bay Area 7th-grader finishes 3rd in National Geographic Bee

SAN CARLOS, Calif. (KGO) -- A Bay Area seventh-grader finished in the top 10 at the National Geographic Bee in Washington, D.C.

Tuvya Bergson-Michelson of San Carlos earned a $10,000 college scholarship by finishing third overall in the finals.

Michelson attends Nueva School in Hillsborough.

This is the 13-year-old's third top 10 finish at the national level.

He says he loves geography for the lens it provides on the world.
