SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- A Silicon Valley advocacy group is under fire for its list of worst performing schools in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. The list, compiled by the group Innovate Public Schools, cites 28 schools which serve more than 15,000 students.
According to our media partner, the San Jose Mercury News, the schools listed serve largely poor and Latino children. Innovate says students are being steered toward failure and a lifetime of low wages.
Critics say the list is based on dated information and simply serves as an advertisement for charter schools.
