SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) --With back-to-school already upon us, ABC7's parent company Disney is teaming up with a local non-profit to help make sure that students get the supplies they really need.
Lots of volunteers and kids gathered at the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco's Columbia Park Clubhouse and spent Thursday day stuffing 1,000 backpacks with school supplies to support local students who are members of the Boys and Girls Club.
"So here in San Francisco, together with Los Angeles and Philadelphia and New York City, all have Boys and Girls Clubs," said Rob Connolly, president of the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco. "We're trying to pack 5,000 backpacks for young people going back to school."
The mass backpack stuffing has never been tried before but as they're trying to set a record, the event will be submitted to Guinness World Records for certification.
