SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) -- School officials in San Leandro shoveled dirt on Wednesday for a good cause -- a new school-based health center for students.

The 4,000 square foot clinic will sit across the street from San Leandro High School.

It's set to open in 2015 and will provide free medical, mental and dental health care to high school students.

Money to run the clinic will come from grants, school district bonds and a loan from the city of San Leandro.

It will be open 20 hours a week.
