She said students were given the option of walking to the gym and staying there for 17 minutes in honor of the Parkland victims. But she said that wasn't good enough. David Novarro has more on the single student who walked out in protest at one New Jersey high school.

SAYREVILLE, New Jersey -- On a day of national walkouts across the country to protest gun violence, one New Jersey high school student made a defiant act.

Sayreville High School student Rosa Rodriguez said the school's principal threatened disciplinary action on anyone who walked out of class Wednesday morning -- but that didn't stop her.

She said students were given the option of walking to the gym and staying there for 17 minutes in honor of the Parkland victims. But she said that wasn't good enough.

Rodriguez says if she is suspended for walking out, she won't fight the punishment.
