Stanford University's long-time president is stepping down.

John Hennessy announced he'll leave his position next summer after one more year leading the prestigious university.

Hennessy became president in 2000 after a career as a computer scientist and founder of a tech company.

His legacy is developing collaborative programs with industry in tech, health, international affairs and science.
