Cool rookie cop has dance-off with local kids

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KGO) -- He may be new on the job, but a rookie Kansas City, Missouri police officer made an immediate impact on some local kids.

The kids were dancing on a street corner when Officer James Krebs joined in with his version of the "Octopus" dance.

Krebs traded turns with one teenager, then he pulled out an interesting dance move of his own.

The 26-year-old officer admitted he couldn't believe what he was doing, but there was a method to his madness.

"When I went through the academy and when I first got hired on, I told them how I want to interact with the community and start building some rapport with the citizens because I feel like if we build rapport with them, then they're more likely to call us when they need us," Krebs said.

The kids enjoyed their time with Krebs. One girl even said he was pretty fun and liked that he was showing them that cops can be cool.
