Shoreline's Matchbox Twenty, Counting Crows show postponed
Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View was supposed to be rocking with Matchbox Twenty and Counting Crows on tonight. But instead, it's all quiet.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (KGO) -- Shoreline Amphitheatre was supposed to be rocking with Matchbox Twenty and Counting Crows on Friday night. But instead, it's all quiet. The two bands are cooling their heels, unable to perform, because of a collapsed roadway. And their fans are really disappointed.

The decision was made at 1 p.m. on Friday. Concert promoter Live Nation says it discovered a collapse in the road that gives bands access to transfer their equipment to the stage. The hole got bigger overnight, and it was decided metal trench covers were not viable to cover the hole.

Matchbox Twenty posted on Facebook that there were "unforeseen issues with the loading dock, preventing the bands from being able to load their equipment on to the stage."

The show is rescheduled for Tuesday evening with one big change -- Counting Crows won't perform due to another commitment.

The band took to Twitter to vent. Counting Crows wrote, "It's some truly messed up s*** but I'm told we can't load any eqmt (sic) into Shoreline tonight & the show is cancelled."

Matchbox Twenty will do a longer set to make up for that. Still, fans are not too happy.

"I've never heard anything like this ever, can't load the equipment really, we'll help carry it," said San Francisco resident Chris Courtney with a laugh.

Sacramento resident Kendrea Emery shared her fellow concertgoers' frustration.

Louie: "Without amplifiers, speakers, everything, you can't have a concert."

Emery: "It seems like it should have been better preparations here for that."

Louie: "You know, things happen."

Emery: "Yeah it does, but you still have to make sure that everything works all the time."

The Tuesday show won't help those who came from out of town, or who have other plans. They can, however, get a refund.

One couple told me that Friday is their anniversary, and this was how they wanted to celebrate as big fans of Matchbox Twenty. The wife will have to wait now until Tuesday to get see her favorite, Rob Thomas.

All of that is contingent on the repairs being made. Live Nation says that will happen over the weekend. They're going to try to have it all wrapped up by Tuesday.
