The cast of 'The Goonies' celebrates 30 years
Sean Astin, Josh Brolin and the rest of the cast of "The Goonies" reunited to celebrate the anniversary.

Hey you guys! The Goonies is now 30 years old.

Released on June 7, 1985, The Goonies has remained a cult classic among movie fans for the past three decades. Written by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus and directed by Richard Donner, this whimsical tale of a group of misfit teenagers hunting for treasure featured a who's-who cast of young Hollywood hopefuls.

Some members of The Goonies cast turned out to be big names in Hollywood. Sean Astin appeared as Samwise Gamgee in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Josh Brolin will continue to appear as the maniacal villain Thanos in future Marvel Avengers films.

Other cast members have been making a name for themselves behind the camera. Kerri Green started her own production company and Jonathan Ke Quan went on to work as a stunt choreographer in various films.

But not all The Goonies cast members have stayed in Hollywood. Jeff Cohen started his own law firm in 2002, and his last acting appearance was in 1991 for a TV movie called Perfect Harmony.

Update: Mary Ellen Trainor, the actress and philanthropist who played Mrs. Walsh in The Goonies, passed away on May 20, according to Variety. She was 62.

Corey Feldman also confirmed the news via Twitter.
