The community celebrated Independence Day on the night before July 4th and others grabbed early seats for the Alameda parade.

RICHMOND, Calif. (KGO) -- Most folks around the Bay Area will celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, but for one city Fourth of July eve is when all the action happens.

Families gathered at The Craneway Pavilion in Richmond to enjoy live music and outside got to see a fireworks display.

Festivities will continue on July 4 in Alameda with a massive parade. People set out their chairs along the parade route Friday night.
