'Star Wars' actors, fans react to 'The Force Awakens' trailer

"Who gets emotional over a movie trailer?" Plenty of social media users do, as evidenced by reaction to the Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens trailer, which premiered during Monday Night Football ahead of the film's Dec. 18 release.

British actress Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, had a friend film her reaction. She set an alarm to watch the trailer, she explained when she posted the video, saying she was "totally emotional seeing it for the first time and so so so incredibly awed to be part of this incredible legacy."

Co-star John Boyega, who plays Finn, had a more physical way of expressing his excitement. In a reaction he posted to Instagram, he can't contain himself and goes flying over his couch.

The film's stars weren't the only celebrities who were over the moon about the trailer's release. Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg expressed his excitement by commenting (on Facebook, of course, "This looks amazing. I love Star Wars," to which Star Wars quipped "We know."

The trailer received tens of millions of views overnight, according to ABC News, and the beginning of ticket sales cause movie ticket websites to crash.

The trailer brought fans to social media in full force, with 17,000 tweets a minute, according to ABC News. Here are some highlights:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theatres on Dec. 18 with special showings in some theaters the evening of Dec. 17.
